I used to eat there for lunch a couple time a months years ago. Stopped in for the first time in maybe 15 years and it’s nice to see they’re still going strong, but they’ve expanded and the place looks great. We got a table right away and the server was great, though he could cut down on the number of “cool”s. Food came out relative quick and was tasty. My only criticism is the prices. There were 5 of us and no one had alcohol. We ordered one appetizer, three of us ordered sandwiches, one got wings and one ordered a dinner entree. With tip the bill was $160.

Rode's has DARN good food, but the food isn't worth the price you pay for it. Worse, and unforgivably in my opinion, the coffee was outright bad.

Not undrinkably bad, and perhaps military veterans would find it palettable, but even with sweeteners, it was mid at best.

The decor was a bit baffling in some places; a giant rolling door apparently used as a wall hanging? But elsewhere, it was really nice!

And the waitpersons were absolutely wonderful; nothing in this review should be taken as an indictment on the staff. They were excellent.

The food is so good!! Service was excellent. Only down side is there was a long hair in the bottom of my dinner dish. Definitely not mine since mine is short! The waitress did replace it but I did have to sit and watch my husband eat while I waited. Otherwise, it was good.

All three of us had awful meals. The filet was overcooked and dry and didn't taste like a filet at all. We subbed a baked potato instead of mashed potatoes due to a dairy allergy and got charged. The vegetables and fish had no taste. Was offered a free dessert in return for an inedible steak that cost $41. Will never return here again.

I am going to give 4 stars because I have only visited once now... however, I am certain that 5 stars will be earned with future visits. The service is excellent and food delicious.
I have been past this area and didn't know this restaurant was there... I will be going back soon...
UPDATE I am going bump my review to FIVE (5) STARS... several visits now... awesome food and atmosphere and service... Update: Still 5 stars

This is a regular place for us to have dinner. I love their French onion soup and house salad. They make good cheesesteak egg rolls.

The food was a little off today the soup was bland. The egg rolls seemed a little mushy. I was wondering if there was someone new cooking because they were just not on their game today.

Even with that said the service was excellent. Our waitress was on the ball and was very efficient. Also, we always request to sit on the one side of the restaurant and they are usually accommodating. Today was no exception.

To sum it up, today the food was a little off but the service was exceptional. It is certainly a local restaurant that we have enjoyed over the years.

Haven't had a bad meal there yet and I've tried a bunch of dishes. Great thing about Rodes is if you want to casual bar meal they got you or you can go into the more upscale dining room and have that restaurante vibe.

I've driven by Rode's Fireside countless times when I used to work in Swedesboro, but never stopped in. My wife and I finally did, and we were not disappointed! The atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and inviting, from the wine bottle "water fountain" as you walk in, to the large spacious bar in the main room. Our server couldn't have been more friendly, as she took the time to answer our questions and was on point with our drinks and food. The beef stir-fry and vegetables over rice was out of this world! I honestly don't think there was one negative aspect about our visit to Rode's Fireside. We will definitely be going back!
